Funny Christmas Letter Written by Grandma
I am a huge fan of Christmas cards and letters. I get so excited every time one comes in the mail, I love reading about people's lives and hearing what all they accomplished in the past year. It's just really neat to me, and I have really enjoyed creating Christmas cards and letters every year with our little family.
Although I try to do something fun and unique every year, (check out more creative ideas here) one of the best ones was when I wrote our letter from the perspective of our one year old. It was so fun to write and I got a lot of compliments on it, many of my family/friends said it was really fun to read.
I decided to share the idea with you so you could write your own version of a letter from your little one!
Hello everyone! Little Man here.
I thought I would take over writing the Christmas letter this year. I saw the one mommy wrote last year and between you and me it was PRETTY dull. I tried to eat it in an attempt to show her how boring it was, but she wouldn't let me.
So here we go! My first ever Christmas letter!!!
This has been a great year! Mommy and Daddy's lives have pretty much revolved around me, so I think we can all agree that life is grand! :)
In January I was still a little tyke but I kept mommy and daddy busy changing my diaper and feeding me all the time! It's great, did you know all I have to do is whimper a little and they will come running with my favorite meal or a fun toy? Absolutely wonderful. You should try it sometime!
In February mommy started working again, and I got to come too! She worked at this incredible place (a fitness center's child care program) FULL of toys! I got to play a lot, but there were other babies there so I didn't get all of mommy's attention. That was weird but I got used to it. I like playing with other kids so all in all I'd say it was worth it.
In March Mommy and Daddy celebrated their 21st birthdays!
April and May were just normal months. I was pretty busy growing and being really cute.
In June we moved, and now I have my very own room! I was getting tired of sleeping with my bed jammed up next to daddy and mommy's bed, so it is nice to have some space of my own. The new apartment is really pretty, and there's a playground nearby that we walk to a lot so I can play.
Guess what! also in June I went on my very first Road trip!!! I went to Florida with Daddy, Mommy, Daddy's family and some friends from their church came too. I had a great time playing on the beach and being there with my grandparents made it so much cooler because there were lots of people to play with me! I even stayed with them one night so mommy and daddy could go on a date or something boring like that. The important thing was I got to play with my grandma and it was FUN! I have her pretty well wrapped around my finger ;) I get to play with her and my grandpa a lot even when we are in Texas, cause daddy and mommy like to do that dating thing a couple times a month.
July, August and September were pretty normal. Just my usual cuteness. Mommy quit her job so she could stay home and give me more attention (yay!) and keep up with house stuff more. So daddy is working part time at his parents' business now and at the eyeglasses place he was working before. Mommy and Daddy both like how this works out a lot more. I don't really care, but they are both happier so that's nice
October was pretty thrilling because I learned to WALK. Watch out everybody! It's really nice because I can get across the room pretty quickly, and even run away from mommy sometimes! hehehe I can climb things now too! Before, people would put things up high if they didn't want me to get them, but now I will just climb up there and get them back down! At first I would fall down a lot. Boy, would that scare mommy and daddy! but I have a pretty good handle on my boundaries now so it's no big deal.
November was fun, it started out with my birthday and guess what?!?!?! mommy and daddy had been holding out on me! There is this stuff, every body calls it sugar I think. Anyway, at my party there was an entire cake made out of the sugar stuff just for me!!!! wow. that was good. I tried a bite and then put my hands up and said "yay" to tell every one how awesome it was. I don't know why it took an entire year for me to be allowed to have that. but man is it good!
Also in November mommy and daddy dropped this huge bombshell that I'm now a big brother! I'm not sure exactly what all that means, but they keep saying that in July there will be a new baby in the house!!! I'm still thinking about how I feel about that one, but I think it will be okay. By July I will officially be a big boy since I will be 21 months old and everything. So I think it could be fun to have a new baby around. Daddy and Mommy are excited, so it has to be pretty rad.
More big news happened in December! I thought it was kinda boring, but mommy said to tell, because she thinks it's awesome! anyway, Daddy got a new job. Instead of working at the eye glasses place, he is going to be working at a shipping company. My Grandparents both work there, and daddy has been working there part time but he just got offered a "full time position". I'm not sure what all that means exactly, but mommy says he will be home to play with me more, and will be working a more "normal" schedule. Sigh. she's making me write all this, I think its pretty boring, well except the playing part. But anyway, we are all really excited about that and thankful for the new opportunity for Daddy. Mommy says she's really proud of him. She says she's really proud of me a lot too, so it must be a good thing.
We had a really good year. And we are very excited to see what all is going to happen next year! We have a lot of fun together and cant wait to see how much MORE fun we have when there are FOUR of us instead of just three J
Mommy says there is a special way to end Christmas letters, but I'm ready for a snack so I think I'm just gonna go.Merry Christmas everybody!!!
With Love,
Our Family <3
